When you contact Amarillo Gear Service to renew your Marley™ drive, we begin by providing you with an initial estimate of the work to be performed. We also provide you with an initial estimate of any additional costs we foresee based on our in-house inspection.

Once we have received your Marley™ drive, an Amarillo Gear Service technician will inspect for visible wear and damage. Once this inspection has been conducted, Amarillo Gear Service will provide you with an “As Found Condition” Report. This report will include photographs and explanations of critical issues discovered during the inspection as well as a precise cost estimate for renewing the gearbox.

Once you have approved the estimate and the work to be performed, the process of renewing your Marley™ drive will begin. From the inside out, our technicians will conduct the work as agreed. Then, they will apply a double coat of marine grade epoxy paint to the drive to give it long-lasting protection from the elements. When the Marley™ drive is delivered, we will also provide you with an “As New” Warranty. This warranty is good for one year from the date the work is completed.

Marley™ drive renewal details

The basic renewal includes disassembly and reassembly of your Marley™ drive as outlined in your “As Found” Inspection Report. This includes any labor, pressure washing of the gear housing interior, cleaning and inspection of the gears and shafts, installing new bearings and replacing seals, shims, o-rings, and any external hardware as required. We will also set gear clearances, conduct a no-load spin test, sandblast, and apply a zinc primer. We will finish the Marley™ drive with two full coats of epoxy paint.

Renewal of Marley™ gears and shafts

Gears and shafts within the Marley™ drive will be carefully inspected to determine whether they can be reused or need to be replaced. Any gears and shafts that pass visual inspection can also be subjected to a magnetic particle inspection. This type of inspection is used to determine whether there are hairline cracks not visible to the naked eye. There is an additional fee for a magnetic particle inspection. However, it is entirely up to the client to determine whether these tests should be performed.

The determination to replace worn gears and shafts will be added to the basic renewal estimate and will be the sole decision of the client. Any gears required for completion of the renewal will be manufactured by Amarillo Gear Company in Amarillo, Texas meeting or exceeding AGMA Standards and guidelines.

All work to be performed will be completed in our ISO Certified renewal facility in Amarillo, Texas. Once the work is completed, Amarillo Gear Service will arrange for delivery to your specified destination.
